The District has one Explorer Scout Unit

Explorer Scout Report 2007 - 2008

This year has not been a good one for the section due in the main to lack of leaders. We did have three units with just two dedicated leaders and due to a combination of circumstances this fell to just one. Not unexpectedly the number of Explorers also fell. It was then felt that some decisions had to be made to revamp the units. Since inception we had gone against the flow retaining individual units where others had translated to District Units. In hindsight we erred.

So now we have reverted to a single District Unit, Brigantia with Ben Pearson as ESL and using the 1st Hanwell HQ as its base and in order to develop those others of the same age range who wish to become young leaders we have the Churchill YL unit. Hopefully this will now encourage older Scouts to come to one of the units and progress their Scouting experience.

It was great news that one of the former explorers in the 1st Ealing North,Dominic Figon, had achieved the Queens Scout Badge together with the Dof E Gold Award. Congratulations. We hope that this coming year we can develop a good programme and provide for the senior members an active section where they can develop further their skills and ultimately become leaders in various groups and so provide the base for Scouting in the future.
