Beaver Scout report 2007 - 2008

As a District we only got together for a few major events, the first one being the fun swim. While cubs and scouts are in completion with each other the Beavers enjoy the fun swim, over 60 Beavers joined together to have fun in the pool, inflatable’s and lots of splashing was involved.
St George’s day parade was a big success with many Beavers turning out in smart uniform to support their groups.
Beaver Bonanza in June was changed this year, to bring Beavers and cubs together we had a joint event called The Pirates of Paccar Island. Unfortunately not many groups only four from the district went but it was a very successful day the sun was out though it was very windy, leaders got to dress up as pirates and some know names mentioned even got to put their feet up for a while.

Our main event this year is on Saturday 27th September and its celebrating 101 years of Scouting unfortunately last year’s 100th birthday party had to be postponed till now so that all groups could attend. The party will (or will have by the time you read this) take place at the 8th Ealing H.Q (as this has the best space) many thanks John Lee for the use of the hall. Julian the clown is going to be teaching Beavers some circus skills there will be a B.B.Q .mini disco and of course the Birthday cake, hopefully everyone will have a great time.

On a sad note 5th Hanwell had to close their Beaver section and 8th Ealing, still running but are now having joint meeting with the 9th Ealing group, it’ not a lack of Beavers but leaders like most groups we are struggling to keep leaders and on your own you can only do so much. Beavers are the foundation of scouting so please if you know of anyone willing to run or help in a Beaver group please let me know it really (could be only a couple of hours a week)if we have the leaders .

Lastly many thanks to everyone how has helped to make my life easier this year I hope for all it will be a happy
successful year in Scouting.

DISTRICT BEAVER 101ST BIRTHDAY PARTY

On Saturday 27th September 2008 Ealing and Hanwell District Beavers had a party for over 60 Beavers and their leaders.
The sun shone down as the Beavers joined together with Julian the clown to celebrate 101 years of scouting.
Julian the clown performed and taught circus skills such as plate spinning, juggling and balancing peacock feathers on their noses. Even the leaders had a go, but I must say the Beavers were much better than the adults who spent a lot of time picking things off the floor.
We had a great BBQ lunch of hotdogs and burgers followed by ice lollies. The birthday cake had been made by Rosanna Elliott and her daughters and was brilliant, the coloured icing was in Beaver blue and had the Beaver promise written on it surrounded in little Beavers.
All Beavers stood to renew their Beaver promise and sing happy birthday to the scouts, then it was back to the circus skills before Julian presented all the Beavers with a certificate. A group photo was taken to capture the moment and then it was time to go home but not before they were given a goody bag and a piece of birthday cake.
Many thanks to all that made the day a day of fun with friends.
